Rainy Day Activities in and Around Newquay, Cornwall

Weather in Cornwall can be wonderfully unpredictable. We’ve found ourselves eating lunch outside in December sunshine, wandering barefoot on the beach in March, and then wrapped up in puffer jackets in June! It’s all part of the charm, and the best advice we can give is: always pack a raincoat and a pair of shorts.

The key is to stay flexible and plan for both sunshine and showers. Often, it’s still worth heading out—Cornish beaches are wild and beautiful in the rain. Keep an eye on the weather, chase the sun if you can, and avoid beaches exposed to strong winds (blustery gusts can whip sand and salt into your eyes—and your dog’s!).

For up-to-date local weather info, we trust Kernow Weather Team on Facebook and their excellent live rain radar and charts.

But when it’s time to come in from the storm, here are some brilliant rainy-day activities to enjoy in and around Newquay—whether you’re here as a couple, with your pup, or as a family.
