So you’ve arrived in Newquay a little ahead of schedule and Islas Surfhouse isn’t quite ready for check-in — no worries at all. There’s plenty to enjoy nearby while you wait, and the good news is, you won’t need to go far to start soaking up the coastal vibes.
Park Up and Take a Breather
If you’ve arrived by car, you’ll find free parking on Esplanade Road, just a short stroll from Islas Surfhouse. This is a great spot to leave your vehicle while you stretch your legs or grab a coffee. You’ll also be conveniently close to public toilets, which are marked here on Google Maps.
Keep in mind, Esplanade Road can get busy in peak summer months, so if you’re struggling to find a spot, Pentire Crescent — just up the hill — has free parking all the way along. It’s a quieter option and still just a few minutes’ walk from the action.
Grab a Coffee or Bite to Eat

Right on Esplanade Road you’ll find the Sea Spray Café, perched above the cliffs with stunning views over South Fistral Beach. It’s open Wednesday to Sunday, offering great coffee, brunch options, and outdoor seating that’s perfect for people-watching or catching a few waves roll in. Here’s the location on Google Maps.
If it’s a Monday or Tuesday (or you fancy a little walk), head across Fistral Beach — either along the sand or via the path atop the dunes — and you’ll come to a small beachfront complex. There, you’ll find:
Public toilets A takeaway shack for coffee, snacks, or an ice cream A beach bar and a few casual restaurants
There’s also a paid car park in this area if needed, although it can fill up quickly during high season.
Get some provisions in
Alternatively you could park up at Sainsbury’s in the town centre (Google maps link), which also has a toilet, if you want to pick up some bits. You can then leave your shopping in the car and have a stroll around town until check in time.
